Change of Services at Billericay Spiritualist Centre from 01/03/2016

Dear friends

Following the Open Letter to all Attendees issued on the 17th January 2016, I am pleased to update you on the result of our meeting with the President of the Spiritualist National Union (SNU), Minister David Bruton, and SNU officer, Minister Judith Seaman.

Firstly, on the subject of the required number of committee members, although it should be 8 this will be dropping to 6 in the next 12-18 months as new Church bye-laws are introduced. Although ideally we would like to have 8 members we can manage with 6 and the SNU have agreed that we can do this in the interim period until the bye-laws change, if required.

However, with only 6 potential committee members the decision has been taken to reduce the services that the Centre provides. So as of the 1st March 2016 there will be only 1 Sunday service per month, and this will be the first Sunday of the month with the exception on November, to facilitate our Remembrance Day service, and December to facilitate our Candlelit service.

Healing on Monday will continue as is, but will be under review as the number of patients and healers has reduced considerably.

There will be no more Open Circle on the first Saturday of the month due to poor attendance – in 2015 5 of the 11 circles were not held due to too few (or no) attendees.

We still desperately need people who are willing to commit to the Centre and play an active role in its day-to-day running by becoming members and/or assisting the chairperson on Sunday and Tuesday evenings. This ranges from helping to meet and greet attendees to helping with the refreshments before and after the services. Ideally we would also like volunteers to help maintain the Centre, ranging from upkeep of the outside area (including weeding), to general cleaning and tidying up.

Finally, in order for the Centre to maintain its full Church status we need a minimum of 13 members, so please consider renewing your membership or applying to be a member. The cost is £10 a year and entitles you to a reduction in Tuesday entrance fees and special events.

We have a very short time before the AGM, so please consider what you can do to help and join us on Tuesday 23rd February for the AGM, or contact us at or speak to any of the committee members.

Yours sincerely

Debbie Malyon, President of Billericay Spiritualist Centre
